Time for a change? Come and help pioneer the future of real-time engagement

Join a Tech Track, Tech Nation, BAFTA winning company with a big ambition

Full-Time · Liverpool, London, Krakow, Sofia or remote (UK / Europe)

We are an equal opportunities employer and striving to create an environment that is supportive and inclusive. Candidates from all backgrounds are welcome.

We are looking for a senior multi-disciplined technical leader to join us. The successful candidate will take on product ownership responsibilities and overall management of the development process. They will need a passion for pushing technologies to the limits to come and join our talented team of engineers, building out functionality for major TV shows and sporting events.

Monterosa is the leading Real-time Engagement (RTE) platform powering the world's biggest entertainment and sports properties. We combine live participation such as voting with gamification, interactive video and eCommerce, connecting millions of fans to their favourite brands.

Monterosa / Interaction Cloud is the SaaS platform adopted by ITV, Sky, ViacomCBS, EA Sports, The British Olympic Association, The Jockey Club, and Liverpool FC powering and monetising fan engagement around key properties such as Love Island, The Grand National, The Premier League and The Olympics.

Included in the Tech Nation’s prestigious 2020 Future Fifty cohort, Monterosa achieved over 20 #1 apps, has been awarded a BAFTA and is listed at #39 in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100 2020.

What you'll be doing

  • Your team will be working on a Monterosa / Interaction SDK – a new way of adding our award-winning Interactive Experiences to existing native and web applications. We're just getting started and defining our ways, so joining at this stage is a great opportunity to contribute to the future of the product.
  • As a technical leader, you will be expected to have deep technical understanding of JS, iOS and Android development processes. Although writing code hands-on will not be necessary, you will be expected to lead deep technical discussions within a small team of senior engineers and participate in code-level architecting of the solutions across all the supported platforms. Great documentation, best practices and processes – you guessed it, your responsibility as well!

  • As a product owner, you will be expected to work on the product roadmap refinement, reporting to the Product Manager and CPO. You will also be expected to act as an external interface for your team, representing it before the wider stakeholders group and consumers of the product you are working on.
  • Your team currently includes senior JS, iOS and Android Engineers. You will have an opportunity to hire an Automated QA Engineer and a Technical Writer in your first couple of months at Monterosa.

What does it take?

  • Experience as a developer in at least one (the more the merrier) of the supported platforms – iOS, Android, JavaScript.
  • Recent experience working with all of the supported platforms – iOS, Android and JavaScript in some capacity.
  • Proven recent experience as a manager of a multi-disciplined development team.
  • Ability to explain and advocate benefits of Git Flow, SOLID, code linting and automated testing.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability of explaining deep technical matters to multi-cultural technical audiences. Patience, natural ability to know when you need to slow down, repeat or rephrase.
  • High level stakeholder management skills, mediating conversation between business- and technically-minded people.

Nice to have

  • Experience working on SDK/API projects where your customer was a developer, not an end user.
  • Ability to influence security by design principles and deal with data-protection-related enquiries.
  • Strong desire to automate everything and then some.

What's on offer

  • The opportunity to work on exciting projects – creating world-class interactive experiences reaching millions of fans of the biggest entertainment and sports events on the planet.
  • A small, friendly team where you will have an opportunity to stand out.
  • Hardware and software of your choice – we never judge your OS or IDE choices.
  • 4.5 days working week culture – we finish at 13:30 on a Friday.
  • 25 working days of paid holiday + additional company holidays – we call them Monterosa Mondays.
  • Flexible working hours with the opportunity to work from home or office in London, Liverpool or Krakow.
  • Private health insurance, subsidised gym membership and other benefits relevant to your country of residence.
  • Substantial annual conference and training budget.

We create, we deliver, we achieve immense success through a combination of great ideas, great technology, a passion for entertainment and high performance. With sufficient willpower, the vast majority of new team members go through a positive professional transformation!
